Work in series / Not a cloud

Not a cloud is about controlled spaces and why we build them to be ‘wild’. A park is built for individuals to experience nature without any of the inconveniences; imported plant species, rock and metal are used to provide a more natural-appearing area, quickly becoming part of a local sense of community. The idea of a public park is designed to be personal and communal; part of and an escape from the surrounding infrastructure. To be close to a green space in a city still holds a kind of social flex; a small piece of nature we’ve shaped to our needs. The series of pictures are of temporary collected sculptures made from natural elements from Birkenhead Park; a personal and scrutinised little pile of tree bark, moss, roots, leaves, soil and grass in the vague form of a natural scene.

The series was shown in Birkenhead Park as part of the exhibition 'Not a Cloud in the Sky' by Convenience Gallery to celebrate 175 years of the park.
